The spa district
12:30 PM - 02:30 PM

The Queen of spas was not built in a day and its sources were not born from the last rain. If their virtues for the treatment of joint ailments and digestive disorders have been beneficial to many spa visitors, their beneficial flow has also considerably influenced town planning; greatly helped in this by the arrival of an illustrious curist: the Emperor Napoleon III. Follow this virtual journey in 14 stages between hydrology and history…

Formerly called "Vichy-les-bains", the spa district is organized around the Parc des sources, a real peaceful walk between the springs. The park was created in 1812 by decree of Napoleon I, and surrounded in 1900 with a covered wrought iron gallery to facilitate the wandering of spa guests between the waters that emerged naturally in this perimeter. Around the park are grouped the components of thermal life: thermal establishments, places of entertainment (casinos, cabarets, bandstands, etc.) and hotels built from the beginning of the 19th century. It is the oldest settlement in the city. The ancient city "Aquis calidis" (hot waters) was established around the fertile springs from the Gallo-Roman era.
